FAMILY :: Flare

So I headed out to Salem this last weekend with my lovely assistant Laura (Thanks for coming along girlfriend) to photograph this adorable little family. Dad, mom 10 yr old son & Uncle. I couldn’t have asked for better shooting weather these last few weeks. I am not one to shy away from the sunshine. Actually,  I wholeheartedly welcome the sun with all of it’s flare & hazy glory! I have found what makes me happy – what makes my images unique to my style. I know my approach of photography isn’t for everyone, and that is just fine. I bend the rules a little ~ but in art I think you should. You should be able to develop whatever your imagination desires.  I want to create what I see, and how I see it. Photography to me is a blend of a fairytale dreamland combined with an authentic realness. Colors that are purposely over saturated, vivid ,bold and perfect to me. Colors that I dream of when I close my eyes. (Yes it is possible to dream in colors. )  And…Realness.  I want raw emotion to be found in my subjects as well as the light and weather conditions. If you are thinking ” I didn’t know light and climate showed emotion”…I am here to state that they most definitely do. Light can be dramatic (emotion) or very somber (emotion). Whether it be the warmth of a brilliant summer day or the cool crispness of a foggy autumn evening, I want this blend of fairytale realness to be apparent in my photographs. I embrace the beauty in every weather scenario…my favorite just happens to be a glowing evening sky, like we were so blessed with in this session.

Thank you to this beautiful family for choosing me to photograph this time in your lives. Here are some of my favorites from your session! I had quite a few, so it’s a nice big sneak peek :).

Thanks for stopping by, I’d love to hear from you!
