VANCOUVER WASHINGTON / PORTLAND OREGON PHOTOGRAPHER
Hi! Thanks for stopping by my lil' space on the world wide interweb. My name is Heidi Haden. I'm a happy, positive, passionate, quirky, laughs at anything, sings every song on the radio, art loving FOOL! I'm a wife & a momma of 3 beautiful girls ( 5yr old, and twin 3yr olds)....my family is my world.
I love art... love to view it, listen to it, live in it, eat it and most importantly love to create it. I am a photographer, but was first a painter, potter, and designer. Art has always been such a big part of my daily life. Photography has proven to be my number one artistic passion. Of course I strive to create art that looks pretty, but my ultimate goal is that it speaks with REAL genuine emotion...in every type of session I photograph.
I want to live this life that God has blessed me with to it's fullest, keeping a positive outlook and executing my artistic dreams.
I can't wait to meet you & capture your individual stories.
Love, Heidi

Happy Friday Everyone!!
So I have decided to add a fun new little addition to the VeLvet OwL blogging experience… FRIDAY FREEBIES!! These are images that you can download for your computer screen! I am constantly changing my background, so I thought I’d add a feature like this and let you in on some of the images I capture ~ they are yours for the taking! To kick things off this Friday I chose an image of yesterdays breakfast, with a hint of vintage tone… I thought the colors were very cheerful and spring-ish.. I’m thinking I could use some bright colors on a wet dreary day like today…
I will be posting a least one Friday Freebie a month, but if something inspires me, don’t be surprised if you see more!! I hope to have more features soon, feel free to request or give me ideas on what you would like to see!
You can find the download link by using the nifty little tab labeled “Freebie Wallpaper” on the left! So download and Enjoy!

{ WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE NEW FEATURE ::Friday Freebies::?? I'd love to hear your thoughts, please comment below the post! }
Sparkling, shiny & oh so brand new. Welcome to my revamped little space on the world wide web!! I am SO happy about this new improvement ~ and I FINALLY have it ready to show off…who knew there was so much “stuff” to be done behind the scenes to get these things working! Sheesh… well anyhow, I am ecstatic about my new little bloggy blog & I’d LOVE to hear what you think! You can post a comment at the bottom of the post under ::Leave Some Love::!!
I’m going to post some pictures, because, of course, every post is better with pictures. Here is my Lainey Bird modeling one of the newest outfits over at Sweetie Bees on Etsy. I absolutely adore this dress~ I’ve got the twins coordinating dresses ordered & on the way….can’t wait!
If you want to be a senior rep, it probably means you want to get your photos taken spring of your junior year, or the summer! I will accept my reps starting in January and ask that they complete their session before the start of the school year (cut-off date is August 1st, 2010).
What’s a senior rep?
Each year I pick a handful of Senior Reps from high schools from around the Cowlitz / Clark County area. I only accept 2 reps per school. These reps receive a FREE 1.5 hour photo session ($150.00 value) and $30.00 print credit in exchange for telling all of your fellow students about the amazing services provided by Heidi Haden of VeLvet OwL Photography!
How can you spread the word?
The more you can promote me on your facebook/myspace, the better! Make a photo album with the FREE digital proofs I give you. You must use one of your photos from our session as your profile pic through 2011. I will also give you a limited supply of promotional postcards to help you spread the word.
What are some of the perks?
Each person you refer that books their session~ gets you a $20 print credit. Refer FIVE people and you get $50.00 cash back!!For every 5 clients you send our way, receive $50 cash! The booking senior MUST mention YOU when booking for anyone to get credit. These are just a few of the Senior Rep perks – email me today to ask about senior rep availabilities in your area! Who knows, maybe a senior rep pizza party will be in order once in a while.
Is there a catch?
Well, sorta… If you are selected to be a Senior Rep and you don’t refer a minimum of two seniors to me by March 2011, you will be required to pay your $150 session fee. However, with a little work on your myspace/facebook and by handing out some of your photo business cards, this shouldn’t be a problem!
Additional Information. Each model signs an exclusive contract (meaning you can not be a senior rep for another photographer) Each model also signs a model release form w/ parent or gaurdian signatures if not 18 yrs old. ** Give out brochures, postcards, business cards ** Get mailing list together for NEXT year Seniors (name, address, phone) and get to me by March 2011.
Think you are up to the task?
Awesome Opportunity right? All you have to do is send me an email at heidihaden@hotmail.com ASAP with the following information:
■your name ■birthday ■current high school ■city ■myspace/facebook ■photo of yourself ■any activities you’re involved in at school ■any information about yourself and your interests (music, books, tv) ■why you want to be one of my senior reps
I look forward to hearing from you! Remember I will only accept 2 students from each school, so what are you waiting for?? Get to emailing!
(PS. Don’t worry if you are a graduating senior class of 2010 & reading this. Many seniors still get their pictures done right up until June (graduation)!

Here is a mixture preview from all 5 sessions ~ If you want a Spring Mini Session of your own, I still have 5 available spots for THIS Saturday April 3rd. Please email me for additional information!

What an awesome sunny afternoon we had yesterday~ perfect opportunity to head down to the Woodland Bottoms and play with the girls. This was the babies 2nd time to the beach where they actually could try out the sand for themselves. Brooklyn had gotten used to the sand and she loved it but Reese wanted NOTHING to do with the dirty texture, she seemed very uncertain and didn’t want to leave her little blanket of safety! I think she hated the feeling- well our sand isn’t the nicest around, it’s actually pretty rough, so I’ll give her that. HAHA the blanket ended up being a babysitter. Lainey had fun just getting dirty and building a little “sand castle” (big pile of wet sand). The hardest part was trying to keep Brooklyn from eating ALL the sand and rocks on the beach! Anyways I thought I share our little relaxing afternoon with you.
So here are my 3 daughters and my sisters 3 daughters ~ what fun we had dressing them all up and changing backdrop & props in the studio! Girls are so great, and it’s a good thing we think so- this family has so many!!Here are some fun shots. Hope you enjoy!
Okay, so this week over at I <3 Faces they are focusing on angles, and while I have tons of different archived pictures to choose from~ I decided that since it is such a beautiful sunshiny afternoon, and I have such a beautiful little 3 yr old model (the twins were napping) that I would go out and shoot some fresh shots. I absolutely die when I see this picture- my big girl growing up so fast. She is beautiful, and I love all 3 of my beautiful daughters SO much.
This is a fun angle to try out ~ I was low on the ground, almost laying down flat, and she was looking down at me ~ It’s not as apparent with only one person as the subject but this shot works really well (probably better) with a group of people, juts to get a fun, different perspective.
(PS. I LOVE SUNSHINE!!)
Head on over to the I<3 Faces website and check out all of the other fun “Angle” entries!
What a great idea. It’s always fun to have new wallpapers…..
Thanks Kirstin! Glad you like it!!
I can smell it from here! Mmmm…
I love the colors! Reminds me of summer and how a fresh grapefruit sounds so yummy. Great job!
Yummy! This looks scrumptious! What a fabulous idea Heidi
